This course is a maximum of 2-1 learning. This course is suitable for those who are wanting to start a career in dog grooming.
Do I gain a qualification after completing this course?
No, this course is completely hands on learning and does not come with a City & Guilds qualification which colleges offer.
To be a dog groomer you do not need a City & Guilds qualification! Although many salons like to employ with qualifications, this is only to show they have been trained. You will still be doing 120 hours of training leaving you ready to start your own business or work in a salon.
Full disclosure - I do not have a City & Guilds qualification and I have run my own dog grooming business since 2020!
Why only one - two days a week?
Not only does this help with flexibility, I see so many courses where you can complete all days within the same month. I truly believe you need time to learn and not overwhelm yourself. You are learning a whole new skill! Having the course spread over a few months enables you to carry on with another job while learning your new one, or get a job in a salon as an assistant or dog bather to give you more salon experience ready for when you complete the course.
I really believe learning over a longer period of time allows for the information to settle and for you to figure out your business plan of where to go and what to do next, you can even start your own business doing some simple grooms while you learn and you are then not thrown into the deep end one month later!
